Ohoka Cricket Club 2011/2011 Season
Hello and welcome to the Ohoka Cricket Club web site.
The 2011/2012 season is upon us and it's time for some Cricket.
The Ohoka Cricket Club is currently experiencing some positive and negative player numbers across the clubs sections. The most unfortunate news was the decision to not include a 1st grade side in the 2011/2012 competition.
Although the senior section is experiencing a decline in committed players for the upcoming season, the same can not be said for the JAB. The 2011/2012 season has seen record numbers of children keen to play for the mighty pukekos. We have 7 teams entered across the 4 sections totalling nearly 80 players. This does not include Milo Cricket for the little ones which is due to start in early November and could easily match if not exceed the the number previously stated.
In the senior section, we have been able to enter 3 teams. This will consist of a 2nd grade side and two 3rd grade teams. The 2011/2012 season is certainly a rebuilding year as the senior section look to increase player numbers and commitment towards the club for this season and into the future.
Ohoka Cricket is backed by a strong committee of dedicated club members. They have, along with other club members, worked hard over the last few years to move the club into a strong financial position. This has been illustrated by the recent development of the training facilitates at Mandeville. John Hamilton and his team are currently extending the length and resurfacing the current artificial pitch while developing a 2nd artificial to aid and increase the training capacity during the wetter times of the season. Along with the new wickets come a new set of nets to enhance the training experience.
The Committee are always looking for new ideas as how to spend club money. All ideas and comments are welcome and can be emailed to hamishnz25@hotmail where they will be brought up and discussed at our next committee meeting.
The new season is always and exciting time for any Cricket fan and we look forward to your support for the upcoming season and into the future.
